Something I Disagree With The Way I Was Raised

Hmnnn, this is an interesting one for me to talk about today. So I’m half #yoruba, my mom is Yoruba while my dad is from #Deltastate. I was pretty much raised by Yoruba people and in the West so that’s the dominant culture I’m used to. ⠀

Yoruba people are known, scratch that are legends for being super respectful and polite and all that good stuff. There’s one thing my mom raised me to do which is thank people the next day after they give you something which is all fair and good, to be honest. ⠀
⠀
However, it gets really annoying very quickly when you have to start thanking them for that same thing and involve other people. So let’s say A gives me something. I have to thank A the next day for giving me said something yeah? Then I have to tell A’s sisters, brothers, aunties, uncles and dead ancestors to help me thank A because A gave me something. ⠀

Fam! I literally always want to pull my hair out every single time I have to do this. It’s a wonder I still have any hair left on my head. Lol. ⠀

Can y’all relate? Especially, Yoruba people. I don taya o! I don taya to dey thank the whole world because someone gave me something. Chai. Lol. ⠀

It’s polite to be thankful but sometimes I think this practice just takes the piss to be honest lol. ⠀

What I’m Most Passionate About In Life

I’m most passionate about all the creative ventures I’m into including #writing #design #acting and my faith, stories and life TV show #FisayoTuoyoTvShow. 🙏⠀

I’m also realising, even more, these days how much I love to #plan and be involved in activities like #socialmediamanagement which is more or less #projectmanagement, to be honest. ⠀

Due to the various work environments I’ve had the privilege of working in and also because of the different types of industries I’ve worked in, I’ve picked up a lot of tricks over the years. ⠀

I’m also passionate about the variety my life brings me and will keep bringing me in the future. Variety, they say is the spice of life and guess what? It’s very true. ⠀

It may be exciting to live a life of variety and passion but it’s also not easy. It takes a lot of #determination, #patience and #consistency. This is why whatever you do, you need to actually be #passionate about it. ⠀

A Phrase I Overuse

Haha, there was a time when I worked in a bank when I lived in the #UK and I remember someone telling me I said “obviously” a lot and it was considered quite rude. Lmao! 😂😂😂😂😋⠀

They realised I didn’t know I was saying it that much so they told me so I could adjust accordingly. God bless them! ⠀

Anyways in today’s present day, I’m wondering what phrase I use a lot? Nothing comes to mind, to be honest, but I’ve noticed that since I’ve been writing for this challenge, I use “anyhoo” a lot. ⠀

There was a time when I used to say “like” a lot, as recent as two years ago and when I was confronted about it by someone, I blamed the #kardashians. That period I would leave the channel of E entertainment and those guys are always on that channel so the word “like” became stuck in my subconscious. Lol. ⠀

Anyways fam, what phrase do you tend to overuse? Is there any phrase y’all have noticed I use a lot? ⠀

A Language I Wish I Could Speak

I really wish I could speak #spanish very fluently. I mean I can speak a little bit and I’m not completely clueless when it comes to the #language however, I do wish I could speak it as a second language. ⠀

I also wish I could speak #yoruba more fluently. I mean I understand it and all and I know what I want to say but when I open my mouth to speak, there’s a disconnect between my mouth and my brain and it sounds funny. 🤦 ⠀

My Karaoke Song Of Choice

In the last 85 days, I’ve talked about how I can be considered as a #music “whore” because I love a wide variety of genres of #music. ⠀

Anytime I go for #karaoke, I’m always spoilt for choice so I usually tend to sing the latest and super fun songs. I’m not that person who goes to #karoake and starts singing sad songs, honestly, I think that’s just sad. ⠀

It’s the most ridiculous song you can sing with a group of friends and just be on your worst behaviour. 😂🤣😂⠀

It helps if you pretend you’re in a hip-hop #musicvideo and you don’t take yourself too seriously and just have fun with it. ⠀

My Best Birthday Memory

So last week Saturday, I talked about the most fun I’ve ever had and that was during my 24th birthday where I travelled to the party island of #tenerife. ⠀

Honestly, that story I told is my best birthday memory. I don’t want to bore those of you who read it then so I’ll just talk about another memory. Let’s just say this one is the second best birthday memory. 😋⠀

I’m very big on birthdays and I typically tend to go all out as long as there’s enough money to do so. Another favourite birthday of mine was a long birthday weekend of activities. My friends and I went to a #Brazilian #restaurant in #London and ate #meat till we could eat meat no more. ⠀

Those types where they bring you every type of tasty meat imaginable on a skewer and cut the amount you want directly to your plate. The meat ranges from kangaroo to ostrich to whatever else you can imagine. I’m not even going to bother talking about the sides because the meat is the main thing. It’s the whole point of going to restaurants like that. ⠀

Yeah, I’m also that person who celebrates their birthday either over a whole weekend, a week or travels to another country specifically because of that. ⠀

How Would You Describe Yourself?

It was in the not too distant past I recently discovered I am an extroverted introvert. I’m not actually as extroverted as I thought I was especially in the second decade of my life. 🤷⠀

Let me put it this way, I love being around people and socialising with them and all that good stuff. On the other hand, I can spend the next 6 months still #socialdistancing and be a very happy kitten indeed.⠀

I just need to ensure I have all the 21st-century essentials like #food, #water, #internet, etc and I’m good. ⠀

I love being around people and all that but social situations and having to interact with #people with high energy levels is very draining so I need time to also recuperate and just recharge my batteries. ⠀

I find it amusing when people who only see my extroverted side get glimpses of my introverted side. They’re always like “what’s wrong with you, are you ok?” it’s usually really funny to me but with time they get used to it. ⠀

Sometimes some attribute it to me being in a mood and it’s like lol, someone cannot even have their introvert moments in peace. Na wa o. 🙄⠀

My wildest dream is the ability to become invisible at will. I would use this superpower in combination with another superpower which is flying. Just imagine being able to fly around unseen. 😁 Oh, the things I would do! Haha! ⠀
